Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher quits

Author: admin

noel-gallagher    Lead guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis, according to a statement he posted Friday night on the band’s website.

The announcement came shortly after the last-minute cancellation of the group’s scheduled performance Friday at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris.

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” Gallagher wrote. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Noel’s brother and Oasis lead singer/guitarist Liam Gallagher founded the band in 1991 with Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCaroll. Noel joined shortly thereafter and took over as Oasis’ lead songwriter. The Gallagher brothers are the longest-standing members of the band; the rest of the current lineup includes guitarist/keyboardist Colin Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Chris Sharrock.

The British band had performances scheduled Saturday at the Rock Am See Festival in Konstanz, Germany, and Sunday at the I-Day Festival in Milan, Italy, both of which are canceled, according to Gallagher’s statement.

“Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan,” he wrote. No further news on the band’s future has been announced.

Oasis’ most recent album, “Dig Out Your Soul,” peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in October.

Travis Barker friend, DJ AM, found dead

Author: admin

travis-barker-dj-am    DJ AM, the stage name of disc jockey Adam Goldstein whose music could be heard on albums by Madonna and Will Smith, was found dead in his New York apartment at age 36 Friday, according to media reports.

John Sweeney, a spokesman for the New York police, told Reuters officers found a man dead at 5:23 p.m. Friday but he could not immediately confirm the man was Goldstein.

The address where Sweeney said the man was found matches that of Goldstein’s apartment.

Celebrity news website TMZ.com said Goldstein, who socialized with Hollywood celebrities and in 2008 survived a plane crash with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, was found with prescription pill bottles near his body after he had not been heard from for days.

As a DJ, Goldstein’s work appeared on albums by Madonna, Will Smith, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Papa Roach. He performed at clubs in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and elsewhere.

With the band Crazy Town, Goldstein had the 2001 hit song ”Butterfly” but the group broke up two years later.

He partnered with Barker of punk band Blink 182 last year to create a live DJ and drum performance and the duo played occasionally at clubs and other concert venues.

In September 2008, Goldstein and Barker were in a private plane that crashed while trying to take off from an airport in South Carolina. The two pilots and two passengers were killed.

Goldstein and Barker suffered serious burns and were hospitalized in critical condition.

Goldstein posted his last known public remarks on the social networking website Twitter Tuesday when he wrote: ”New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”

The words were lyrics from a song by Grandmaster Flash, a pioneer of hip-hop music.

Goldstein dated reality TV star Nicole Richie, to whom he was at one point engaged, and later went out with singer and actress Mandy Moore.

Aaliyah Remembered

Author: admin

aaliyah    Aaliyah Haughton (1979-2001), better known as just Aaliyah, was an American R&B singer who sold 24 million records worldwide and was an up-and-coming Hollywood actress. She died eight years ago this week at the age of 22 in a plane crash. She referred to her singing “street but sweet”.

Aaliyah was born in Brooklyn but mainly grew up in Detroit. Her mother gave up being a singer so that she could bring up Aaliyah and her older brother, Rashad. (Despite their Arab names, they seem to be Catholic.)

Aaliyah had singing lessons from an early age, took part in school plays and at age 11 appeared on the television talent show, “Star Search”.  She lost, but later that year she performed with Gladys Knight in Las Vegas and a year later got her first record deal. Her uncle was married to Gladys Knight and managed R. Kelly! Kelly wrote and produced Aaliyah’s first album, “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” (1994).

The album “Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number” came out when she was 15 and produced a number one hit, “Back & Forth”.  But she was not the only 15-year-old girl with a number one hit that year: Brandy had one too: “I Wanna Be Down”.

That summer Aaliyah and R. Kelly got married! They both deny it but there is a marriage certificate. Aaliyah put down her age as 18, not 15. Her parents had the marriage annulled because she was underage.

After that Aaliyah and R. Kelly parted ways. She went to Atlantic Records where Timbaland and Missy Elliott wrote and produced her second and third albums: “One in a Million” (1996) and “Aaliyah” (2001).

She graduated from high school in 1997 and then went into acting, her second love. She appeared in “Romeo Must Die” (2000) opposite Jet Li  and in Anne Rice’s “Queen of the Damned” (2002).  At the time of her death she was set to appear in the Matrix films and was on a level with the likes of Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba and Zoe Saldana in terms of the sort of parts she was getting.

Flying back to Florida from the Bahamas on August 25th 2001 after doing the video for “Rock the Boat”, the plane went down right after take-off and blew up. She and seven others on board died instantly. The plane was overloaded.

At her funeral in New York her body was taken to the church in a silver casket inside a glass carriage pulled by horses. At the end of the funeral they let 22 white doves fly into the sky, one for each year of her short life.

Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson: More Drama

Author: admin

Prince-Michael-Malachi-Jackson   According to TMZ and Radar Online, 24-year-old Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson is claiming that he is the son of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. And Prince Michael Malachi Jackson, who hails from San Francisco, California, wants to take a DNA test to prove it. To that end, Prince Michael Malachi Jackson and his mother, Zerline LaVette Dixon, have filed a creditor’s claim against Michael Jackson’s estate – and the birth certificate submitted with the claim lists Michael Joseph Jackson of Indiana as the father.

Many no doubt will come to the conclusion that Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson’s primary motivation for coming forward and claiming that he is Michael Jackson’s son is money. But according to LeRue Grim, who is Prince Micheal Malachi Jackson’s attorney, nothing could be further from the truth.

Colbie Caillat Breakthrough

Author: admin

colbie-caillat    Colbie Caillat found platinum success with her very first CD — and it paralyzed her when it came to writing her sophomore album.

Caillat had one of the more popular hits of 2007 with the dreamy song “Bubbly,” off her debut album “Coco.” The ubiquitous song had her so in demand she went from opening for acts like John Mayer to headlining shows, and writing with sensations like Taylor Swift.

Life got so hectic for the 24-year-old that she experienced writer’s block. She was so busy touring she felt like had no time to actually live life and experience real emotions to write about.

So she went away with “American Idol” judge and songwriter Kara DioGuardi to brainstorm for new material, and ended up talking about relationships and heartbreak — just the kind of inspiration Caillat needed for her new CD, “The Breakthrough,” which is out this week. The album’s title not only represents breaking her creative impasse, but accomplishing other goals as well.

Taylor Swift is hot

Author: admin

taylor-swift   The Jonas Brothers may be ruling the teeny-bopper rock scene and Katy Perry owning the pop-tart image.   However, owning the country market is princess Taylor Swift.

Despite all their mediocre talent and unpolished demeanors, there is something intriguing about young talent – possibly the fact that their money will inevitably be blown away before they hit 35.   That being said, Taylor Swift swiftly made her way into the pop country scene by releasing a debut called “Tim McGraw”.

The country pop star has sold over 4 million copies, and according to Forbes is the 69th most powerful celebrity, with over $18 million earnings to date.

Michael Jackson Alive

Author: admin

michael-jackson-2   Now conspiracy theorists who claim Michael Jackson is still alive have a video allegedly showing the King of Pop not dead.

The video shows a man who is claimed to be Michael Jackson jumping out of a coroner’s van after his death.

According to the LiveLeak post: “I checked the license plate number and it looks like the King of Pop is jumping out of the same van, his dead body has been in.”

The poster claims they received the original video from a “trustworthy” source.

No timestamp is shown on the video and there is no clear shot of the man showing it is Jackson but it is sure to fuel the fire of conspiracy theorists.

David Guetta album coming soon

Author: admin

david-guetta    Though he’s logged plenty of time on European pop charts over the last few years, French electro-house maven David Guetta hasn’t really established an American fan base beyond the confines of the club. That could change this year: Two advance singles from “One Love,” Guetta’s fourth studio album, already have broken onto Billboard’s Hot 100, while “I Gotta Feeling,” the Black Eyed Peas track he produced, just scored its eighth consecutive week atop that tally.

“One Love” certainly comes stocked with a roster ripe for a mainstream crossover: Akon, Ne-Yo, Kid Cudi and Kelly Rowland all turn in guest appearances, as do will.i.am and apl.de.ap of the Peas; they return Guetta’s favor in “On the Dancefloor,” a pulsating disco-rap jam replete with space-station keyboard squiggles. Estelle crops up too, in a dramatic title track that recalls the early-’90s work of Deee-Lite.

Guetta is at his best (and his most commercial) when he’s equipped with a melody as chewy as his beats. “When Loves Takes Over,” with Rowland, works beautifully as a cheesy synth-pop makeover of Coldplay’s “Clocks.” Unfortunately, he whiffs on a perfect opportunity for a tuneful techno-soul bomb in “Choose,” his strangely flat Ne-Yo collaboration.

For the most part, though, Guetta knows what he’s doing here. Bring America to the club? Nah. He’ll bring the club to America.

Tuesday night, Commissioner Bob Langstaff pushed the city attorney to develop an ordinance that would limit the kind of entertainment allowed at the Civic Center.

The Gucci Mane controversy continued as city commissioners held a special briefing to discuss whether it’s possible to establish new policies to regulate who can perform at the Albany civic center.

City commissioner Bob Langstaff first brought up complaints about the rapper’s lyrics.

50 Cent dodges Eminem chart battle

Author: admin

50cent    50 CENT has admitted that he delayed his album release so he wouldn’t compete with Eminem.

The rapper will now release ‘Before I Self Destruct’ in November after admitting that it made “good sense” to wait until the Eminem star had made his comeback.

He said: “I was limited with time on my other projects, and this one, just because the system was in a state of confusion with things changing – the music business itself changed.

“And it was definitely a time where I felt like I was ready and it wasn’t a possibility for me to release the record at that point.

“And then the Eminem train came running down the track and I had to get out the way to let Eminem’s record go out. Because he had been off for two years, it made good sense for to let him go out first.”

And although he has yet to release his new album, 50 – real name Curtis Jackson – is already planning the follow up.

He added: “My new project, is so far what they’ve heard from me in the past. It’s different things we are doing that they’ll be surprised to hear. What creatively, I came up with.”

Michael Jackson used e-mail to buy drugs

Author: admin

michael-jackson   Police believe Michael Jackson used secret email accounts to buy prescription drugs.

Detectives in Los Angeles have recently discovered the late pop legend had accessed AOL and Gmail accounts in the run up to his death in June from a suspected cardiac arrest and plan to search his personal messages for evidence he used them to acquire medicines illegally.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘They could hold vital evidence with regard to Michael’s death and the drugs he was using regularly. Not only did he get prescription drugs through a network of doctors, it’s believed he may also have got them from illegal websites or drug cartels. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has to get a search warrant first and this takes a few days.’

Police are also keen to search a private mobile phone belonging to the ‘Thriller’ singer.

Since his death, it has emerged Michael had been prescribed a number of drugs – including the powerful sedative Propofol, also known as Diprivan – by a number of doctors.

His personal physician Dr. Conrad is being investigated over manslaughter claims.

Meanwhile, medical expert Dr. Susan Etok has claimed she was asked by the ‘King of Pop’ to prescribe him Diprivan and discovered a secret stash of drugs in his bathroom – which she took a sample of and gave to police.

She said: ‘Alarm bells went off in my head and I knew I needed to get out of there right away.

“There was a just a whole bunch, like a box with stacks of different medicines. And I took just a sample of those just to see what they were. There were just so many, and just paraphernalia such as syringes, tourniquets and surgical gloves and masks.

‘It was just crazy. At the time I didn’t really know what they were. I was just really shocked. There was just so much medication, just like looking into a pharmacy, and I thought, ‘What is he doing with all of this?’ So I took some of these medications and I took them home and I looked them up and I asked family members, and I found out that they were anti-depressants and things like that, and I just thought no, this is not right.”

Dr. Etok claims to have met with the singer on March 6 at London’s Lanesborough Hotel.

She told website ET Online: ‘He was upset about the fact the British media were very harsh on him, and how he was hurting. He kept on talking about how much he was hurting. I wasn’t sure whether it was emotional pain or whether it was physical pain, and he said he needed me to help him.’

Meanwhile, Michael’s mother Katherine – who has guardianship of his three children, 12-year-old Prince Michael I, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, also known as ‘Blanket’ – is looking at sending the grieving trio to school.

The children have been taught at home their whole lives, but their grandmother is making enquiries into Los Angeles’ prestigious Buckley school, which is near the family home in Encino.

The children and Katherine spent the weekend at the luxury Palms Casino Resort in Los Angeles.
