Neil Young Preps New Album, Box Set

Author: webc

Neil Young is in the final stages of mixing his new album, which he recorded with U2 producer Daniel Lanois in a Los Angeles house earlier this year. Following a longtime tradition, Young only recorded around the peak of the full moon. "We cut a couple of solo acoustic songs, …

Friday night in Northampton, Massachusetts, Interpol found themselves back in the kind of college club where they launched their careers. At Pearl Street, a venue with wood-boarded floors, tall Victorian-style windows covered with sheets and makeshift bleachers tucked into one corner of the room, the New York rockers kicked off …

Boyle’s label, Sony, is targeting an October streetdate for the as-yet-untitled album.

Everybody’s gone Ustream crazy today, people. First it was Taylor Swift updating us on what she did this summer. And now we have the above image, a screen grab from Katy Perry’s Ustream chat with artist Will Cotton.

Behind Perry and Cotton we can see the album artwork for Perry’s upcoming sophomore full-length, Teenage Dream, which Cotton painted. The image is a  re-creation of Perry’s cotton-candy cloud video for “California Gurls,” the lead single from Teenage Dream.

You can watch (or rewatch) Perry’s chat at her Ustream page. Check below for Perry’s “California Gurls” video and be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes video about the making of “California Gurls.” Teenage Dream is due out August 24th.

Katy Perry went the extra mile for the unveiling of her “Teenage Dream” album artwork today (July 21), revealing a 6×6 canvas painting of the cover to her fans watching live on Ustream.

One question has been on the lips of our great nation this summer: What is up with Taylor Swift? After pretty much running 2009, during which she saw a million faces and lightly rocked them all, T-Swiz has been taking it easy this summer, largely keeping her name out of the headlines.

So it was awfully polite of the pop-country princess to hop on Ustream to chat with fans and give us all an update on what’s going down in Taylor Town.

The video chat, which was broadcast last night, seems to be shot in Taylor’s Stevie-Nicks-In-Training room, with candles burning and dark, purple drapes hanging in the background.

Taylor updates her fans on how her summer is going, how she’s liking living on her own. Most important, Taylor talks about her new album, Speak Now, which is scheduled to be released October 25.

Check out the Ustream chat and Taylor’s “You Belong With Me” video, both below.

When Rolling Stone's Neil Strauss caught up with Lady Gaga for our cover story (on sale at newsstands now), the pop superstar revealed that though she's currently on a massive arena tour behind The Fame Monster, she's already at work on its follow-up: "Some artists take years. I don't. I …

With his solo debut, former Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk says he’s “Alive” again after suffering a “creative malaise” in the wake of the band’s dissolution last year.

One of the more surprising moments during the 2010 BET Awards was El DeBarge performing a medley of ’80s hits by former family group DeBarge. Now the singer/songwriter is hoping to parlay that moment into a successful comeback bid with his first album since 1994.

Crystal Bowersox has already started recording material for her debut album, and so far, at least one collaborator is highly impressed with what she’s bringing to the table.

One morning last fall, musician Dave Stewart woke up with an idea for a new song. But unlike any of his past material, the tune was about inspiring those struggling with cancer.
