The summer tour starring “American Idol” finalists is being cut short.

It’s hot outside. I know, I know. Captain Obvious, reporting for duty. But one thing that’s always good for a cooldown is some really good, roll-your-windows-down rock. And that’s exactly what we’ve got here with The Gaslight Anthem’s new video, “American Slang.”

The Gaslight Anthem excels at making punked-up Springsteen-leaning rock, with crashing guitars, huuuuge choruses and introspective, nostalgic lyrics.

This video, directed by Kevin Custer, pretty much sums up Gaslight’s aesthetic: hats, tats and rock and roll. It’s comprised largely of black-and-white images of the group making their way around New York City, interspersed with some performance footage of the the Jersey band rocking out on stage.

Check out the video below. American Slang is out now.

The Top 6 perform Shania’s catalogue in a twist on country night.

It’s the evening of Thursday, April 1, and, no foolin’, Broadway’s St. James Theater is packed. Previews of the musical “American Idiot” started little more than a week ago in anticipation of an April 20 opening, and the theater has been close to capacity every night.

This week we spent some time with P.U.S.H. Artist of the Week Green Day, as the Cali punks turned arena rockers launched their Broadway musical, American Idiot, which reinterprets the Grammy-winning album and Green Day’s through-line: kids in America finding their identity and voice in a political structure that doesn’t define them.

We’ve looked into the possibility of their American Idiot musical moving from Broadway to the big screen and, perhaps most importantly, we offered you a chance to see American Idiot on stage for yourself.

Now, we’re bringing you a few awesome video interviews with Billie Joe, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt. In these video clips, Green Day talk about American Idiot’s move from album to musical, the vicarious stage fright of watching their Broadway baby take the stage, pretending to know how to read music and how it feels to watch the audience get involved and hear Green Day’s songs in a radical new way.
