Taylor Momsen is not a role model. This is not an observation; this is a quote from the young lady herself. Buzzworthy sat down with Momsen along with Ben Phillips, her bandmate from The Pretty Reckless, and had a candid conversation on her music, her fame and her responsibility (or lack thereof) to her fans.

Momsen claims that music is, “the thing that’s kept me sane.” And based on this interview, you can tell she’s not kidding. When asked whether she thinks of herself as a role model, Momsen candidly responds, “I don’t want to be a f****in role model. I have no intention to be a role model. In fact, I would advise kids not to look up to me. I’m totally out of my mind.”

Despite the upfront nature of that proclamation, it comes with a somewhat warmhearted caveat: “The only message that I really preach is find who you are and be yourself.”

But that’s just the tip of the interview iceberg. Momsen goes on to talk about the origins of The Pretty Reckless, the “unrock/rock” vibe of the Chelsea Hotel (where the band shot their album artwork) and the relationship between her music career and her acting gig on “Gossip Girl.”

Check out the refreshingly honest and forthright interview below. The Pretty Reckless’ debut album, Light Me Up, is due out August 31.

Mark Ronson’s new video, “Bang Bang Bang” is pretty much the coolest thing we’ve seen this summer. There is so much going on, so many references, so much weirdness, so much ill imagery, that it’s hard to wrap your head around it.!

Good thing “Bang Bang Bang,” which dropped about a month ago, is also a dope piece of electro hip-hop, with rhymes supplied by Common and Q-Tip, and vocals by MNDR (aka Amanda Warner).

Directed by Warren Fu, the video starts out with fake commercial for a Nutella-looking spread called “Ronson.” Then we jump to a retro talk show where our Japanese host speaks French, and Ronson speaks Japanese. Sure!

The rest of the video is full of intentionally old-school special effects and references to Star Wars, Tron, anime, French New Wave films, and basically everything else that has ever been cool.

Check out the video below. “Bang Bang Bang” is from Record Collection, Ronson’s third solo album, which is due out in September.

Jay-Z’s “Empire State Of Mind” is an undeniable classic, and it absolutely owned the summer of 2009. But let’s be honest. While it shouted out lots of triborough geographical points of interest, it was really about being in a Manhattan state of mind. But in 2007, Jay-Z paid tribute to Brooklyn, the borough that got him born in the Beastie Boys-referencing “Hello Brooklyn 2.0,” featuring Lil Wayne, off of American Gangster.

Fast-forward to now. Production threesome Cookin’ Soul, who’ve put their polish on tracks for Soulja Boy, Kanye, Cassie, Nicki Minaj and more, took Jay-Z’s “Hello Brooklyn 2.0″ and the Quincy Jones classic “Summer In The City,” and added some beast black-and-white visuals. Looks like Brooklyn — it’s the New Manhattan! — just got a new look for summer.

Check out the birth of Cookin’ Soul’s Jay-Z/Quincy Jones hybrid, “Summer In Brooklyn.” And download the MP3 here.

There are two kinds of DJ Khaled videos. Actually there’s only one kind; the awesome kind. But under that awesome umbrella there are two settings: Michael Bay-style action movie, complete with helicopters and car chases and kidnappings (think “Out Here Grindin’” or “We Takin’ Over“), or green screen flossing demonstrations, where rappers unleash copious amounts of swag upon us, the willing and loving viewers.

Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win (Remix)” video falls under the latter category.

First things first: DJ Khaled has done so much winning that he’s become a traded commodity on the New York Stock Exchange. Either that or he spent a pretty penny on a LED screen that flashes his name and its stock price, but has no baring whatsoever on the world’s economy.

Second of all, we’re really feeling the sheer variety of jackets being rocked in this clip; from Khaled’s varsity style to Rick Ross‘ satin “West Side Story” windbreaker, to Diddy’s rose-colored fitted thing with the white ribbing. If variety is the spice of life, these guys are Sriracha sauce.

Third of all, and just to wrap up because I have to go start my thesis paper on this video to be published next Nevuary, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH BUSTA RHYMES‘ STOICISM.

Every one else is totally living it up and throwing money and being animated. But Busta is acting like he’s watching “The Hurt Locker” for the first time! Check him out at 1:17! It’s true!

This video contains multitudes. I implore you to discover all of them.

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! Happy birthday, America! Let’s celebrate with lots of American things! And what’s more American than hot dogs and extra-biggie-size Big Gulps? MILEY CYRUS!

Enjoy your parties in the U.S.A. with Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” And, because we can, raise a Solo cup and say “Suck it, old-timey Great Britain” with the late James Brown’s classic video “Living In America.”

Kat DeLuna has always had an around-the-way girl charm. Her early hits like “Whine Up” and “Run The Show” present her as a gal next door — approachable and fun. But this awesome video for her new single, “Push Push,” reinvents Kat as a dance diva. And we applaud that!

Directed by Hank Friedman and featuring Akon, “Push Push” features many Kat DeLunas, as the singer performs the pulsating dance track in a house of mirrors with choreography reflecting a real Busby Berkeley (old-time Hollywood director) influence.

The song itself is about Kat urging on a would-be suitor to step his game up. But honestly, when dealing with so many Kats and so many costume changes and so much Akon, it’s almost besides the point.

Check out the “Push Push” video below. Kat’s Inside Out album is due out this year.

Here we have the video for One Night Only’s “Say You Don’t Want It” — a nice enough, jaunty slice of Brit pop that wouldn’t sound out of place next to Blur or The Smiths; it’s debonair, breezy and instantly catchy.

But there’s an elephant in the room (or the video) in the form of “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson. Now, as metaphorical elephants go, you could do worse than Watson, but her presence automatically gives One Night Only a little bit more exposure than an indie-leaning band might normally get. How did One Night Only pull off the feat of snagging Hermione for their video? She just happens to be dating One Night Only singer/guitarist George Craig. Mystery solved!

The video is actually really charming — full of low-key footage of New York’s Lower East Side. Watson appears about midway through the video, looking lost. Craig approaches her and kicks some game, no doubt revolving around he is also British and what a small world it is, etc.

Check out the video below. One Night Only’s self-titled sophomore album is due out in August. Oh yeah, Emma Watson is in some wizard movie that’s coming out soon, too.

The boys of 3OH!3 keep it pretty simple in their music. Their songs rock like Def Lep, rap like Run-D.M.C. and have beats even the most “Jersey Shore” phobic among us could beat up. But what about the men behind the music? Well, you’ve come to the right place, it’s the Buzzworthy exclusive Q&A with Boulder’s baddest, 3OH!3.

In this chat, Nathaniel and Sean talk about working with both Katy Perry and Ke$ha and how the two new-pop queens differ. They mention a meeting of the celebratory minds between themselves and Andrew W.K. And they also give some details about the Boulder dance scene and how it shaped them and their music.

Check out the Q&A, as well as 3OH!3’s video for its new single, “My First Kiss,” taken from its new album, Streets Of Gold, which came out today.

Yesterday we hipped you to The-Dream’s fabulous middle finger of a break-up song, “Florida University.” And today, we get another product of his Love King album: the video for “Makeup Bag,” featuring T.I.

“Makeup Bag,” starts off with some silent film-era style credits, telling us that The-Dream will be appearing in the role of “Claxton Back.” The whole silent film thing gets thrown out when, well, when The-Dream starts talking in the first scene. And man does he talk, gabbing with someone known as “M.T. Pockets” about $5,000 suits and hater-repellent cologne.

The song itself is a throwback to the minimal snap music of Ying Yang Twins, at least in terms of its beat. The-Dream serenades a singer on the stage, played by model Selita Ebanks, and generally flosses around various locales like a nightclub and a boutique. It’s in the latter location where he’s joined by T.I., who ups the testosterone factor by rapping about Harry Winston jewelery. It’s all a lot of fun and it doesn’t take itself tremendously seriously.

Check out the “Makeup Bag” video below. Love King is out June 29th.

We’re all still catching our breath and drying eyes from Phoenix’s near-holy “MTV Unplugged” performance. The marimba on “Lisztomania” would have been worth the entrance fee alone, had there been an entrance fee!

But what about the men behind the music? What’s on their minds? We decided to find out in this exclusive Buzzworthy Q&A with the fine Frenchmen of Phoenix.

Find out how Phoenix felt about appearing on “Saturday Night Live” (guitarist Laurent Brancowitz musing, “We didn’t know it was imporrrrtaaant,’ FTW!”). Hear about how Phoenix has changed since the group’s early days, how they felt about PS22’s kiddie chorus cover of “Lisztomania” and much, much more.

Check out the interview as well as their “Unplugged” performance of “Lisztomania” below.

Miley Cyrus has caught a lot of flack recently. She’s growing up in public, and that can be a tough process. Since the release of her single and video, “Can’t Be Tamed,” we’ve seen her experimenting with a variety of new looks, saying some provocative stuff, and dealing with invasions of privacy (thanks to Perez Hilton).

Miley’s working it out though, is what we’re saying. And today, performing in Central Park on Good Morning America, grown-up Miley may have finally arrived.

Caught between post-childhood and pre-adulthood, it looks like Miley has finally embraced being a young woman. Rocking a vintage David Bowie shirt, studded leather jacket, ripped black jeans and a grip of mix-and-match jewelry, Miley looked… cool. Still young and fun, but she’s totally got an edge.

Milers performed “Can’t Be Tamed,” as well as a cover of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” with Poison singer Bret Michaels. Check out more pics of Miley on Good Morning America, and watch her “Can’t Be Tamed” video and the Guns N’ Roses classic, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

And don’t miss Miley’s live album release performance — watch “Miley Cyrus: Can’t Be Tamed World Premiere Live” on Monday, June 21 at 10:30/9:30c on MTV.com.

Hey, you guys remember back in 2003 when OutKast released what was basically a two-fer solo album in the form of Speakerboxx/The Love Below, and it was basically the only music anybody wanted to listen to? Good times.

Well, good times are here again! While we all wait for Andre3000 to get to releasing some new material, Big Boi has put together an absolutely awesome solo album called Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty. If you like Speakerboxx (and, let’s be real, you liked Speakerboxx) then you will like this new album. Done and done.

But! We’re actually more geeked on Big Boi’s new video, “Shutterbug,” off of Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty. The Scott Storch-produced, electro-bass-crazy anthem is pretty much the jam of the summer already, but the Chris Robinson-directed video takes it to a whole new level. Tuxedo-rocking Big Boi (with a puppet band), lady dancers dressed up like extras fromTron, Big Boi climbing up a mountain of sneakers, a wall of plastic cups, the world’s coolest Cadillac… and more.

Watch “Shutterbug.” Between this and Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” things are getting a bit surreal out there in video-land, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Big Boi’s album is due out July 6th.

Cobra Starship might sing a song called “Hot Mess,” but when the group walked the blue carpet last night before playing a Ford Fiesta Rooftop Concert to celebrate Internet Week in New York, they looked like the total opposite of a hot mess.

In fact, Cobra Starship looked so swank, so perfectly put-together, that we decided they should all collectively share the title of Buzzworthy Style Star Of The Week.

Sure, usually we’re skeeved out by denim tuxedos, but Gabe Saporta manages to make it work, Tim Gunn-style. Our favorite Cobra look though has got to be drummer Nate Novarro (far left). Homeboy’s rocking those Sebagos like it’s his primary source of income. Either way, we love the look of Docksides and rolled-up jeans. It’s so Hamptons hipster chic. Curiously though, Guy Ripley was not in attendance. Weird.

To see more Cobra stylishness, watch their “Hot Mess” video right this very minute.

Hobbit money is long. That’s the lesson we’re learning in 2010, folks. Sure, there have been other lessons, (right, BP?) But based on his two music video appearances this year, Elijah Wood (star of the immensely successful “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy, in which he played lead hobbit, Frodo) has no pressing need to return to well-paying gigs.

After appearing in Danko Jones‘ thriller video for their song “Full Of Regret,” Elijah Wood has popped up again in this new video for “Dance Floor,” by the indie rock veterans Apples In Stereo.

In this kitschy clip, directed by Greg Kilpatrick, Wood plays a science teacher who futzes around with a time machine (built by Apples In Stereo frontman Robert Schneider). Next thing he knows, he’s transported into an alternate reality where Apples are playing this funky, disco-flavored track and Wood is an award-winning teacher with a cute indie girlfriend.

Was it all a dream? Watch the video and judge for yourself.

Usually, we find movie trailers that constantly interrupt our normal television-watching routine annoying — – but we can’t seem to get enough of the LOL-fest known as Get Him To The Greek, starring Jonah Hill and one Russell Brand.

Russell’s been zigzagging all over the States pimping the movie, and he just looks more and more handsome at every appearance. That’s why it seemed fitting to crown the British funnyman as Buzzworthy’s Style Star Of The Week.

Russell was a vision in white as he strolled the red carpet with fiancée Katy Perry at the Los Angeles premiere of Get Him To The Greek. Then, a couple days later, he reappeared as the man in black during a Meet The Actors event at the Apple Store in Soho. Light vs. dark, good vs. evil — even when Russell isn’t trying, he can’t help but be existential AND stylish.

Get Him To The Greek opens today. Go see it or else P. Diddy will sick the Mexican Jonas Brothers on you. Ay dios mio!

When Carrie Underwood performed on the American Idol finale this week, we couldn’t help but notice the newly engaged country singer appeared absolutely stun-ning in her all-black stage ensemble. From the zipper-detailed White Trash Beautiful bolero to the liquid leggings, Carrie looked like she was ready to kick some ass — and take some names.

She can steal our happy any day. That’s why we hereby bestow the “Before He Cheats” singer our Buzzworthy Style Star Of The Week award. Congrats, Carrie!

Oh, and if we could puhleeze borrow your Sam Edelman Zale boots. (If not, we’ll settle for their Zoe booties, inspired the 2006 Balenciaga version. Plus, they’re on sale. Boo-yah!)

Watch Carrie Underwood’s video for “Undo It” below. Her album Play On is out now.

Finally, a dance movement that we can actually see ourselves participating in. Jerking looks sooo trying. “Voguing” looks ridiculous and complicated. And we could never get behind the “Superman” part of Soulja Boy’s “Crank That Soulja Boy.” But this new move, courtesy of L.A. youngsters Cali Swag District, seems simple enough.

Basically, it looks like a combination of Hurricane Chris‘ “Halle Berry” and Digital Underground’s “Humpty Dance.” It’s simple, slow and looks fun enough.

A little about Cali Swag District: The group is obsessed with skating and BMX as much as it’s into hip-hop and look fetching in gingham. Plus, the vibe is more Karmaloop than any kind of hard-core rap clique, so it stands to reason that it’s bringing us what could be the latest dance craze.

Check out Cali Swag District’s “Teach Me How To Dougie” video, along with “Halle Berry” and “The Humpty Dance,” below.

Sometimes Taylor Swift looks so pretty, it hurts to look at her “My So-Called Life”-style. The Nashville cutie was extraordinarily beautiful while breezing through Los Angeles over the last couple days so it seems like a no-brainer to award her as Buzzworthy Style Star Of The Week.

First, she showed off her high-style skillz while appearing at BMI’s 58th Annual Pop Awards — where she walked away with three awards including Song Of The Year — in an Alice + Olivia sequined strapless silk-georgette dress. Perhaps she borrowed the frock from her BFF Selena Gomez. Either way, sharing is caring so we totally approve.

A few days later, we caught Miss Swift strolling along the streets of L.A. in less formal yet equally adorable attire but questioned her choice of headgear. Truth be told, the crown is kinda growing on us. In fact, we just pre-ordered the following. Don’t hate – congratulate!

The Black Keys have been on a roll, people. As you may be aware, the duo’s new album, Brothers, is a stellar distillation of their superfried-blues powers. They also blew our minds a couple of weeks ago with a video of a toy dinosaur macking on bikini-clad gals for their song “Next Girl.”

Now comes the equally awesome clip for “Tighten Up.” It starts with singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach walking his son to a playground to hang out with drummer Patrick Carney and his son. The kids resemble their dads in uncanny ways and seem to get along, despite Auerbach’s progeny complaining that junior Carney “smells like ranch dressing.”

Things get good when the little tykes start performing the Black Keys’ jaunty, slithering song — expertly lip-synching the lovelorn vocals. Not that you need to be told, but there’s nothing better than kids pretending to sing Black Keys songs in music videos. Except maybe when kids beat up the Black Keys in music videos (this also happens).

Check out the video below. Brothers is out now.

It’s nice to know that I Fight Dragons, the Chicago chiptune band that we introduced you to last week, actually has some fight in them. Sure, with the band’s deep love of video gaming, they get plenty of mortal combat with controllers. But in this exclusive Buzzworthy blog video, we get to see the band actually throw down in the real world.

We caught up with I Fight Dragons in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (which is the capital of Pennsylvania, FYI). Singer Brian Mazzaferri does a good job juggling the dual roles of telling us where the band is (they’re on the Too Fast For Love tour) and officiating a sword fight between two other Dragons, including an Iron Man-masked Laura Green.

Check out the video below. I Fight Dragons’ Cool Is Just A Number EP is out now.
