Love Parade Death Toll Rises to 20

Author: webc

The latest victim, a 21-year-old German woman, died as a result of her injuries in hospital late Monday (July 26).

When Annie Lennox made “No More I Love You’s” many, many moons ago, she couldn’t have possibly imagined a gigantic, bearded rapper who tweets under the name @RickyRozay, spitting sweaty rhymes over a sample of the song some 15 years later. Frankly, Lennox couldn’t have possibly imagined a lot of things, such as Twitter, so there you go.

But here we have Ricky Rozay, aka Rick Ross, dropping his typical sophisticated pillow talk over the sample in this, the remix of Nicki Minaj’s jam of the summer contender “Your Love.”

Nicki and Rick make an interesting pair. Minaj is typically a very animated rapper while switching accents and doing impersonations. Ross, on the other hand, is always Ross. That will probably be on his tombstone: that he was always Ross (also, that he really liked Rose wine).

Other than the addition of Ross’ verse, the song remains the same, with Nicki shouting out Bruce Willis and harmonizing with herself on the chorus.

The country singer’s current single claims the distinction of making the slowest climb into the top 10, taking 46 weeks.

Katy Perry completes the quickest ascent to the top of Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart in more than five years, as “California Gurls,” featuring Snoop Dogg, zooms 5-1 in its sixth week on the survey.

Viral video auteurs OK Go have released their latest visual for new single “End Love,” and while it doesn’t feature any treadmills or Rube-Goldberg machines, it does have awesome geese.

New Video: OK Go, ‘End Love’

Author: webc

At this point, and I mean this in the best way possible, you go to OK GO for the peppy, quirky power-pop, but you stay for the videos. The band has become prolific at creating innovative, cutting edge clips with multiple-replay value.

Let’s review: there’s the treadmill choreography of “Here It Goes Again,” the mind-bending, kaleidoscopic special effects of “WTF,” the one-take, marching band madness of “This Too Shall Pass.” Every time these guys get in front of the camera something great happens.

Their new video for “End Love,” immediately joins past OK Go videos as one another imaginative endeavor. Since the song, taken from their Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky, is about the apocalyptic feeling that comes with the end of a relationship, it’s only fitting that the video plays with time itself.

With a whole tool box of time-lapse tricks, OK Go — along with co-directors Eric Gunther and Jeff Lieberman — have made a warped, beautiful video. You have to see it to believe it.

Check out the video for “End Love,” below, along with OK Go’s famous clips for “This Too Shall Pass” and “WTF.”

The ”Glee” kids gave it their all during last night’s season finale face-off with New Directions, bringing back not only their biggest hit — Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” — but adding three more Journey songs to their arsensal: “Faithfully, “Any Way You Want It” and “Lovin’, Touchin, Squeezin’.”

The title of Eminem’s new album, Recovery, might suggest a kinder, gentler, more clear-eyed Slim Shady; the work of a man who has seen the error of his ways and has vowed to walk a different path, as suggested by his new single, “Not Afraid.”

“Love The Way You Lie,” which features Rihanna on the hook, at least suggests that he still has some work to do. While not as homicidal as some of Em’s earlier “love” songs (see his “‘97 Bonnie & Clyde” from The Slim Shady LP), “Love The Way You Lie,” is still a dark affair.

Rapping about a relationship that resembles what happens when “a tornado meets a volcano,” Eminem paints a compelling, emotionally detailed portrait of an abusive relationship.

If you’re looking for Rihanna to add a bit of sunshine, think again; the “Disturbia” singer has the blues on this one, singing, “Just gonna stand there and watch me burn/ Well, that’s all right because I like the way it hurts.”

Check out Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, as well as Em’s “Beautiful” and Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette” videos, all below.

New Video: Metric, ‘Stadium Love’

Author: webc

Lions! Tigers! Bears! Oh, my!

Metric, one of our favorite bands on the Eclipse soundtrack, gives new meaning to the phrase “girls gone wild” in their new video for “Stadium Love,” off their album Fantasies.

Wild animals frolic while the band performs from within a cage, which is probably a subtle social commentary that also happens to look awesome. During the four-minute clip, hippos rage at each other, preternaturally attractive singer Emily Haines flirts with a lion, and drummer Joules Scott-Key tackles the question, “Is that a snake in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”

(The answer: It’s actually a snake. Bummer.)

Watch the video for Metric’s “Stadium Love” below. Fantasies is out now.

As a public service, we thought you’d bring you these exclusive live clips of Cobra Starship rocking Kent State University, home of the Golden Eagles

Cobra Starship’s been on the road for the last few weeks, along with their like-minded amigos 3Oh!3 and Travie McCoy, performing on the Too Fast For Love Tour. And in these performance videos fresh off the tour, we get to see Gabe Saporta and his squad run through two crowd faves: “Good Girls Go Bad” and “Hot Mess.”

Two immediate reads on these Cobra clips: 1.) Live, Cobra spit some kind of rocking venom; as they develop as a band they might be getting shinier and more pop, but they can still throw down live. 2) These songs are obviously anthems for those in attendance, as the sea of Kent Staters really seem to lose themselves in the moment.

Check out “Hot Mess” and “Good Girls Go Bad” from the Too Fast For Love Tour.

One man at a piano? A gorgeous meadow? Explosive emotion? Does Muse have to spell out the Eclipse imagery for you in its new video “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)”? Well they do with the lyrical throughline “love is forever and we’ll die together.”

Again, the Eclipse symbolism and metaphor are hard at work here in Muse’s new “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)” video, the lead single off the Eclipse soundtrack (out June 8). If the theme of eternal love doesn’t scream Eclipse from heights even higher than the cliff Bella foolishly dives from (oh, come on — that’s so not even a spoiler at this point), then scenes of Bella and Edward making out, wolves dashing about, Jacob looking brooding (and shirtless), Edward looking attractively perplexed and chiseled, and Dakota Fanning with those freaky red Jane eyes drive home that point.

Watch Muse’s brand-new video, “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)” now!

If you’re in a territory where you can’t see this video, please go go to muse.mtv.com to check it out.

It became clear to me when I interviewed Courtney Love, as it will to you when you watch the videos below, that Courtney Love is not the type of woman who gets interrupted often. She’s the opposite of timid, and, as she freely admits in this interview, she has no filter. But it’s part of her dynamic. And why should Courtney Love stop talking? She’s a walking, talking, full-color book of stories and opinions. She’s funny, open, she freely admits her shortcomings, and she’s completely honest. Many musicians show up at MTV having memorized their press release. Courtney Love is not that girl. (She expressly told me she hates talking about what her songs mean.)

Courtney Love has been the grunge poster girl, married to one of the most iconic rock figures of the 20th century, and with four Hole albums down — including the latest Hole album, Nobody’s Daughter, she’s created some of the most influential female-fronted rock music of all time. Clearly, Courtney Love has had experiences that you and I have not, nor will we ever have.

In this exclusive MTV Buzzworthy Blog interview, Courtney Love shares experiences that are quintessentially hers — convincing Linda Perry to give her “Beautiful” instead of Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears (we know how that ended up); playing a private Vegas show in a Balenciaga dress; Kurt Cobain calling her the greatest f— in the world. And there are some experiences Courtney Love shares that are universal — making money, the nuances of bipolar disorder, Twitter, Etsy addictions (Courtney spent six figures on Etsy), and body functions. Also, you probably don’t have to deal with Lady Gaga’s stylistic influence on the changing face of the music industry and the chasm between rock and pop. But Courtney Love does. She’s the “queen of rock and roll,” and at the same time, she’s down-to-earth enough to be your next-door neighboor.

Watch Courtney Love cover all of those topics and much more in these exclusive Buzzworthy interviews.

Did your first kiss involve Ke$ha, armpit hair, a smoke machine and a guy in a wool poncho? Then do we have something for you.

Watch 3OH!3 perform “My First Kiss” and their party favorite, “Don’t Trust Me” (not to be confused with “House Party”) at the Kent State University stop of the Too Fast For Love tour. And check in with Nat and Sean in this 3OH!3 tour diary. 3OH!3’s album, Streets Of Gold is out June 29.

Whoa! Hello there brand-new Beyoncé video! Directed by Melina Matsoukas (Rihanna’s “Rude Boy“) and Beyoncé herself, here’s the clip for “Why Don’t You Love Me,” taken from the album that just keeps on giving, “I Am … Sasha Fierce (Deluxe Edition).”

Verdict? Kind of a tour de force! It’s Beyoncé on the edge of a nervous breakdown. We see grainy film stock giving off the ’70s-exploitation vibe. Beyoncé’s in full pinup mode (somewhat of a holdover from “Telephone“), smoking and drinking dirty martinis — when did this happen! She’s gardening in heels, playing dress-up as a naughty, nasty police officer and Bettie Page (again, from “Telephone”). It’s all here in support of a dirty, disco-funk track cowritten with her sister, Solange Knowles.

+ Watch Beyoncé’s “Why Don’t You Love Me” video below. Note: A teensy-bit NSFW.

With “Starstrukk,” an homage to Daisy Dukes, and the spectacularly NSFW track, “House Party,” 3OH!3 might not strike you as the most spiritual of musical acts. But one look at this exclusive Buzzworthy video, taken while the band tours the nation on the Too Fast For Love lineup (along with Cobra Starship and Travie McCoy), and you might re-evaluate your entire belief system.

We caught up with the duo at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The vibes at this empty venue shift from holy to juvenile as the boys do a little Gregorian chanting and then engage in some nipple-embracing graffiti. Don’t worry — by the looks of it, The Rave is a tag-happy zone.

The band then hikes to the tallest peak in Milwaukee (which seems, suspiciously, to be on top of the venue) and takes in the Midwestern vista. You can catch 3OH!3 in the following cities, on the following dates on the Too Fast For Love tour.  Select dates from this tour will also be mtvU Movies and Music Festival dates leading up to the big show airing June 6 at 9/8c on MTV.
5/7 Rochester, NY – Rochester Institute of Technology
5/8 Danbury, CT – West Conn
5/14 Columbus, OH – Ohio State

Check out the video and the band’s “Starstrukk” video below.
